Shenzhen's Double Festival Traffic Nightmare
Traffic was a mess yesterday and may not be much better today. If you don't have to get in a car to move around, count yourself lucky.
Luckily, there are plenty of pictures and videos people are posting on social media about the traffic that you can watch if you're stuck in a traffic jam.
Jihe Expressway was clogged up for 7 kilometers
By four o'clock in the afternoon, the traffic on many expressways in Shenzhen had increased significantly.

At 15:20, the Shenzhen Traffic Police issued a reminder that there are multiple sections of expressways to Shenzhen, several expressways at the junction with Dongguan, Meiguan Expressway Guanlan Toll Station, Longda Expressway Luotian Toll Station, Guangshen Expressway Xinqiao Toll Station, The Yanjiang Expressway International Convention and Exhibition Center section lined up for 4 kilometers .

It estimated that the success rate of taxis during peak hours would be less than 60%
Even if you get a car, it would take more time even for a short journey.
A driver from Shenzhen Didi received an order to go to Guangzhou at 3 in the afternoon. It took 8 hours to drive 120 kilometers.
At 15:50, the section of Yanjiang Expressway by the International Convention and Exhibition Center had vehicles queued up for about 4 kilometers.
The Meiguan Expressway also had jams. Before 4 o'clock, the Guanlan toll station was already full of traffic.

At 17:25, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory issued a red rainstorm warning in Baoan District (Shiyan, Xixiang, Hangcheng Street), and the city entered a rainstorm emergency defense state.
At 18:40, the rainstorm warning was extended to Dapeng and Kwai Chung streets.
At 16:45, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory issued an orange rainstorm warning in Baoan District (Shiyan, Hangcheng Street) and Longhua District (Longhua, Dalang, Guanhu, Fucheng, Guanlan Street) , and the city entered a storm defense state.
At 18:10, the orange rainstorm warning extended to the central and eastern regions.

According to the Guangdong Traffic Police: "Guangdong Transportation" released 50 high-speed road sections (25 for each return trip), 10 toll stations, 10 service areas, 10 national and provincial road sections, and 17 accident-prone points with high traffic volume.
Car owners are requested to make plans before traveling, check the road conditions through electronic maps in time, and try to avoid these places with heavy traffic.

It is predicted that during the National Day this year, the province’s total highway traffic volume is about 60 million vehicles, an increase of about 12% year-on-year, and the average daily traffic volume is about 7.5 million vehicles. The highest peak occurs on September 30 or October 1. The traffic volume is approximately 8.4 million vehicles, a record high.
